It is with tremendous sadness that we acknowledge the loss of Pauline Chow-Hoon, who passed away on June 21. Pauline was one of the founders of the Kilohana Martial Arts Association, and was a woman who was loved by all who knew her. Her counsel and guidance were sought after by many of the biggest names in our martial art community, and she had understanding and compassion for all of us. A recipient of the Kilohana Legend Award, she was truly one of the pillars of our ‘ohana. She was the wife of John Chow-Hoon, one of the founders of Jujitsu America, and one of the giants of the martial art world.
She is survived by her daughter Mimi and son Jason, as well as Jason’s daughter Alana. A Catholic Memorial Mass will be held for her at St. Angela Merici Church of Pacific Grove at 362 Lighthouse Ave, Pacific Grove, CA 93950 on Saturday, July 21 at 11:00 a.m., with a pot luck reception following at the American Legion Post 41, located at 1110 Veterans Drive in Monterey, California. Gravesite services will be on July 26 at 2:00 p.m.
